Help! I’m Holding a Grudge

Are you holding a grudge? About?

I’m the first to tell you I’m terrible at letting go of grudges. I’m not a therapist, counselor, or professional with experience in this department. Can I let go of them? Yes. Can people change? Yes and no. It is hard to change, and if not in the right circumstances, I can definitely fall back into my old habits. I’m always a work in progress.

I hold a grudge against AI art primarily because I feel it takes from the Art of other people and makes new art. Technically, this has been done for centuries, just not in AI format. Ethics play a significant role in this. I do not hold a grudge if you are honest about your art. In the end, we are all artists, just in other forms. Just don’t lose the human person side of Art.

For me, the best way to let go of my thoughts is to go for walks, be mindful of my surroundings, let go, and be in the present moment. Will that help me avoid having a grudge? Yes, but it can always flare back up.

I love Spencer Johnson’s book Who Moved My Cheese? It is about dealing with change in life and work. You should check it out.

There is an interesting mini-series called The Great Art Fraud. I will have to watch it.

  1. Thanks for sharing this, Natalie. I love how honest you are about holding grudges—it’s something many of us struggle with. I agree that mindfulness and being present can really help in letting go, even if old habits flare up occasionally.
